Shoot & Shadow A Newborn Portrait Session With Me – For Free! | Clarksville, TN Newborn Photographer

It’s finally time to CELEBRATE!  Two years in business, 5,000 fans, and a heart so full of blessings and gratitude for the opportunity to have this job.  Thank you all for the support and encouragement over the past few years – because of you I have been living my dream as a baby photographer.  Thank you!

I have a FREE shadowing session up for grabs as part of this celebration.  I’m by no means a photography instructor and I don’t advertise that I’m a “teacher” in this industry either.  So, I chose to call this a “Shoot & Shadow” session because that’s realistically what I want to offer to you.  Come hang out with me for a newborn session!  We’ll set up together and discuss the studio lighting that I use.  We will work side by side with my paying client and her newborn baby so that your experience represents that of an actual session.  You’ll shadow me through posing, workflow, soothing and transitioning from blankets to props and maybe even outdoors, weather permitting of course.  You will be taking the same shots that I’m taking – shooting WITH me and learning the angles that make a big difference in newborn portraits.  We will wrap up the session with a little bit of post processing of our images and end with open question time – anything that you want to ask!

These fabulous vendors are putting together a gift bag of goodies just for the winner – I have to admit I’m a little jealous!  Ok, I’m a lot jealous!

To be considered, you must own a DSLR camera that you know how to use in manual mode.  You need a 35mm or 50mm prime lens and you must live & work outside of a 2 hour radius of zip code 37042.  The prize must be redeemed by December 31, 2013 and all transportation and hotel accommodations are the responsibility of the winner.

Samantha Mays - My partner and I have been in business since March of this year. It would be so amazing to have the opportunity to “shadow” you!! The thing I would like to bring home the most would be angles, it’s not my weakest point, it would be nice if it were a stronger point though! Thank you so much for the chance at such a great prize!!!

July 28, 2013 - 4:28 pm

July 29, 2013 - 11:28 am

Sarah Creal - I have been on and off in business since 2009; however, I am active duty military, so it’s more of a semi-professional basis. I took a year and a half off to complete a doctorate. I am from TN and know Nashville well, but I live and serve in Texas. I would most like to learn posing techniques and your session workflow, so it doesn’t take me so long for a session!! Hoping to win desperately!! Thanks so much for your work with the military and for your service as a spouse. Tell hubby to keep his head down!

Alexis Newey Algozzini - I am self taught photographer. I am dying to learn how to pose newborns. I have played with my own children, but can not master the beautiful art of newborn photography. I would love to watch a pro in action.

July 29, 2013 - 4:54 pm

April Dani Parmer Doutt - I found your fb page because of our names, I like our name and was born in April, by the way. I love your work and have been admiring your work for months. I’d love to specialize in newborn photography, I’ve taken the photography certificate program at the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Alabama. No one seems to be specializing in newborns in my area. I’ve done a few newborn sessions and did ok, but I’m missing your knowledge and experience. With your help I feel I could be to Mobile, AL., what you are to Clarksville, TN. I have a Nikon D800 and a D7000, I operate both 99% in manual mode. I have lenses 35 mm, 50 mm primes and a 24-70mm 2.8, I have 2 speedlites but I’m more comfortable with natural light. I’m hoping to hear from you and would appreciate any help to some day be half as good as you are. Thank you for your time and allowing me to follow your work.

July 30, 2013 - 9:46 am

July 31, 2013 - 6:21 pm

Shawna - I’ve been doing this for 2 years, but only part time. I’d love to learn posing and lighting with newborns. Newborn and Senior sessions are my absolute favorite… Seniors are easy, but the newborns are tricky because you want to be cute, fun, and creative, while maintaining the highest safety and comfort levels for the baby! And, I think you’re pretty awesome at what you do! 🙂

August 1, 2013 - 2:33 am

Shelly Dann Pray - I am relatively new to this business. I have been learning for a while and am just starting to have paid sessions. I have only had six newborn shoots and have learned a lot during each one. I would like to specialize in newborns and being an Army wife I am around lots of babies all the time. I love it. I have not had experience with studio lighting but would love to learn more about it! I would also love to learn some of your post processing techniques as you do an amazing job!

August 2, 2013 - 6:05 pm

Jody Rollins - I LOVE your work! I am currently in the pre-business stage…getting portfolio and business details in check before actually taking on paid clients, but have been working on my DSLR manual skills for the past couple years. Photographing newborns and children is my passion. In shadowing you, I would love to learn more about posing, hand placement for composites, and the most flattering camera angles.

August 2, 2013 - 9:01 pm

Nichole - Would love this!

Do you remember this beautiful expecting mother on the blog recently?

Well her beautiful baby girl visited me yesterday!  We made sure to venture outdoors for some of Melanie’s newborn portraits, even using the same fabric that adorned her mommy’s belly during the maternity photo shoot.  Can you believe that pretty little Melanie is already featured on Best Newborn Photographers and Baby Pictures today?  What a little model in the making!
